Life and trauma

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017

I went back and looked through the questions in the survey... they seemed to all focus on togetherness and reaching out to the lonely and isolated...

Suggestions to

  • Visit a young mum
  • Ask open ended questions
  • Visit the elderly
  • Invite a single person over
  • Send a text message

Way to rub salt in the wound...

There are only 2 people in my church that do that semi-regularly one is my elder and the other actually cares about me...

Sorry, I have my first meeting on a steering committee I was invited on to at 8am this morning,  so I had an early night.  I hope everything is okay.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 far from ok. I hope all goes well with your meeting. Chat to you after maybe.

It certainly would feel like rubbing salt into the wound.  That's completely understandable to feel that.  It does seem to be a bit of a narrower view of who may be lonely and isolated in the community.

It is at least partly reassuring that there's two people who are looking out for you there.  Maybe they will take your situation into consideration and let other know to look further for people who may need some support in future.

I'm sorry it's been another tough night.  My meeting just finished, but I do have an appointment at the hospital at 11.30, so i'm around for a little bit if you want to chat.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 I'm getting over the tough nights. I'm so tired today and I feel like I could just fall asleep. How did your meeting go?

Re: Life and trauma

If you don't have much you need to do then just write today off and try to get as much rest as you can.  I find I need days like that when I feel like I just don't have the energy for anything else.

The meeting went well.  It's a committee meeting, so not the most exciting hour you'll ever spend in your life, but it was informative and quite interesting to learn about different things happening in the background of the prostate cancer world.  It's the sort of stuff you don't normally hear about as just a patient.

Re: Life and trauma

@MJG017 i want to sleep but the anxiety of someone coming while I am or waking up having panic attacks makes it hard.

Glad the meeting went well, probably not the most exciting hour no, but i bet it's good to get some more insight into what happens in the background. It's great that you have that opportunity.

If I'm honest... I think it was the loneliness that drove me into the arms of Delilah with all her manipulation, lies and abuse... they just dismissed me as fine...
