Share a cuppa?

Re: Share a cuppa?

Sometimes sharing does help my @ArraDreaming , sitting with you  xx

Re: Share a cuppa?

Thanks @Shaz51, and @Meiwmy, I appreciate it, I'm still feeling the bruise, but it getting better. I listened to a beautiful musical rendition of St. John of the Cross's passage describing his very romantic and intimate love of Christ today on YouTube, it's called Dark Night of the Soul, the music is by Loredana McKinnett, it's breathtaking in its beauty.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Take care my @Abner 🥰

Re: Share a cuppa?

It's not Loredana McKinnett @Shsz51 and @Meowmi, it's Loreena McKinnett. I hate predictive text, it's always wrong.

Re: Share a cuppa?

@Abner hey Abner, hope your bruise get better quickly. Great re the music. Truly amazing. At a gathering. Wish you a great night. Take care.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Listening to that song has really lifted me up, because I've often heard my fellow LGBT friends say that if they could choose not to be LGaBT they would've, and in that biblical passage a man is saying "I love this man romantically, and it's beautiful", he's choosing to be who he is.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Re: Share a cuppa?

Hi @Meowmy, I've been watching Benjamin Britten's "Peter Grimes" and have just spoken to two pianist friends of mine, Bev Deluis and Bev Ellicott, and said if John Farnham had known the operatic potential of his voice, he could've delivered a great Peter Grimes. I think his voice had the same lyric tenor potential as Peter Pears and David Hobson. I don't know if he knew that, but I'd have loved to see him do Peter Grimes, or even John Addams' works, Sir Michael Tippett...

Re: Share a cuppa?

@Abner hey Abner, glad you had been enjoying music on this cold day

I like John Farnam. This morning watched a short clip of orchestra playing nutcracker on YouTube. Was lovely. Hope you will have a nice afternoon.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Hi @Meowmy, I didn't see your post until just now. Yeah I think John Farnham had a beautiful tenor voice, and he's a very talented performer, I just don't think he realised he was more musically capable than he realised. Not that if he knew he could train classically that he would've done that, plenty of classically trained musicians turn to rock music, some never to return to classical music - Elton John for example. But Elton John knows he has a huge talent, I don't think John Farnham knows he's hugely talented, and that's the danger of not having people around you who can see your gift... Also when he sings you can see he's not confident that he can get his high notes, because he's squeezing his voice to get them, whereas he doesn't need to squeeze his voice to get them, they're there already, and to protect his voice he needed to learn he'd get all his notes, high and low register by relaxing his whole body, and using his entire body as a sound flow chamber. When Elton John sings he never squeezes or compresses his head, because he knows that any notes you can't get when you're relaxed you're not going to get anyway, and Elton John's voice doesn't have the range John Farnham had, but John Farnham didn't have the confidence Elton John has.
