Why is applying for jobs so hard….

I used to join disability job providers in the past but due to the horrible experiences I’ve had with them in terms of the mutual obligations thing, plus being forced to go for jobs that I know for a fact aren’t for me and having my feelings and struggles being invalidated by the employment consultants in return, I’d rather not join one again.

I am thinking of joining a recruitment agency later on though which I know will do me 10x better than those job providers/employment services do. 

I’ve got my resume and cover letter being edited by a specialised resume and cover letter writer and they both turned out great! 🙂

Do you feel connected to people at uni? It sounds like uni can be a helpful distraction?

All the best with job hunting. Sometimes, I've felt that job hunting in itself is a full time job... can be draining..

I don’t have a lot of advice for you except sitting with you understanding that job hunting is a full time job in itself I went through this earlier this year and have been unemployed many times in the past @Blackcloud sorry your going through it

@tyme in terms of feeling connected to people at uni, no I don’t and I don’t have any in real life friends. On top of that, I don’t have any support system except for my counsellor at kids helpline. 
I’m not sure about distraction, but anything that involves volunteering, work or uni or even participating in any sorts of activity does help me get out of the house during the day which is a good thing at least.

@ArraDreaming thank you, how are you going with work right now (if you’re currently working)? And are you happy with your current job? 

and that’s ok, as long as I’m on Centrelink payments (not on jobseeker but on DSP) and getting the income from that then it’s all good, no biggie. 🙂

Yeah I am, @Blackcloud
It is part time but I have been given a short stint full time which im in now…
I do enjoy it but when I applied I wasnt sure if it was for me but i made a good choice
It is gardens and maintenance at a retirement village - mostly independent units whereas before i worked in customer service in various nurseries
things did not end as planned by my previous employer but i had struggled significantly for a very long time there so on reflection it worked itself out in the end
Im in a much better place and thriving there now
I could barely get myself to work in the previous job and when i did i was too anxious to make it inside the gate most days

How are you @Blackcloud ?

I was just reading back at your posts, and I was wondering, do you think being at uni is part of the reason getting a job is harder? What I've noticed is that those who are at uni struggle to secure jobs due to uni times. That is, there are days and times they can't work because of uni commitments. Whereas those who are already working can cut down or change days. A lot of places what people to be available all the time.

Do you think this is a similar case for you?
