Farewell to Bon_courage

Dear forum community, we wanted to let you know that one of our team, the incredible @Bon_courage , is finishing up with us this Friday.

Bon_courage has been the continual support for our Peer Guides and Community Guides and is leaving SANE and the forums in a much better space because of their work. Most of all though, Bon_courage  will be remembered as someone who always saw the strength in our forum community and helped members see in themselves that they had a vital role to play in peer support of others.

Please join all the SANE team in wishing them well and please leave any thoughts below.

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for all the support and guidance you’ve offered me throughout the Peer Guide program. Your mentorship has been invaluable, not only in shaping my understanding of mental health peer work but also in building my confidence as a Peer Guide on the SANE Forums. 

Your compassion, wisdom, and encouragement have had a lasting impact on me, and I’m truly grateful for the time and energy you invested in helping me grow. It’s clear how much you care about making a difference in this space, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had you as my mentor.

While I’m sad to see you go, I know the positive influence you’ve left behind will continue to inspire me, and so many others, for a long time to come. Thank you for everything you’ve done.

Gosh. This day was never going to be easy.

As I made my way to work this morning, every step I was trying to ground myself and check in with my feelings and yet it still almost feels like it's not me leaving, it is someone else. I guess focus time is needed to process all this. Big emotions for big events.

For now, I will just sit here enveloped in the kindness this community has offered me - hoping to always return it in bucketloads.

Truly thanks to you all for sharing this space, for the mutual support and being there for each other.

Of all the aspects of Peer work that I'm drawn to - I always go back to mutuality.
