Re: Separation from girlfriend

Hey @Shigs69, i'm sorry you're going through this, separations can be so painful.  It's natural that you will feel a lot of emotions and this is okay.  Try to take things a day at a time and allow yourself to process what has happened.

Try to focus on the small day to day things and be around your fiends and family.  You're not alone, and we're here to listen if you feel like it would help.  I know everything feels so difficult now, but just try to not be alone at the moment and talk to people around you.

Re: Separation from girlfriend

I am talking to my friends there input has been a good asset to me.

Like what they say. I got take it day by day. Just the shock of what she said to me thats the hurting part.

Re: Separation from girlfriend

Hi @Shigs69 Relationship endings can be awful. It's not just the person we lose, but that life together. It's important to give yourself time to grieve and process the loss. It's really good that you're reaching out here, it's also good to hear that you've been leaning on your friends

P.S. you may have noticed that I moved your thread to it's own space here to ensure that other members are able to find it and provide support

Re: Separation from girlfriend

It's when you're at home all alone then that's when you to starting over thinking. Why me what did I do wrong.

Re: Separation from girlfriend

@Shigs69Like any grief, it's the times you're alone and it's quiet that the feel the worst.  It's natural to want to know what you did wrong.  But if there was something, I would thing you would have been told.  If you find yourself having to ask yourself that question, then chances are the answer is probably nothing.  If someone did something wrong to you and it was bad enough for you to break up with them... would you tell them what they did wrong as part of the reason for your decision?

As @Ru-bee said, a break up is like grieving a life you have just lost, and grief hits hard and then gets better over time.  When you're ready you can then go about building a new life and finding that happiness again, this time with someone who appreciates you more.  Or at the very least, tells you if you're doing something wrong before it gets to this point.
