Something’s not right

My Mosaic

Re: My Mosaic

@Jynx  I think the jawbones look better on it. They add to the artwork. Flowers look different too? I like the flowers on the jawbone piece.

Yep! We are staying AT legoland! Mum said to splash out and book whichever place I wanted! D doesn’t know yet! Or about Disneyland. Fingers crossed the weather is ok for both.

Yeah it’s such an effort getting clothes, getting in…. But then I’m fine. I could stay for ages too. But then getting out and dry and dressed again Urgh and then there is the horrible heat. Get dressed again and I’m all sweaty again.

I wrapped D’s ‘Santa’ present yesterday @Jynx  and then gave it to mum to hide and pack in her suitcase. Then was in D’s room last night and noticed she already had that Lego set! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Re: My Mosaic

Yeah nah it was far from sunny @rav3n  it was super hot still though. So hot and sweaty setting up, it was yuck.

yep, legoland have a number of different hotels with different themes. The rooms are all decked out, there is Lego to play with in all the rooms. It’s a whole experience! I’d love to stay in a Disney hotel some day too. They are pretty epic too.

what colour did you get your nails? I do my own nails every weekend. It’s my self care. Currently have sparkly silver with Christmas stickers. But I want to go get them done before we leave. Just need to figure out when I can fit it in. I’m taking my D to get her hair braided with coloured extensions on Sunday. Mum gave her a gift voucher as an early Christmas present.

Re: My Mosaic

@rav3n yeah kinda like a shield! I found a bunch during the last hard rubbish collection, they're what you'd mount like a deer skull or something onto - like these:

So of course I nabbed em all and have spent a bundle of hours sanding and painting em so I can make lil displays!!

@Bow yay cool, thanks for the input! Seems to be the consensus, keep the jawbones! Now to the tricky, finnicky part - gluing it all down!! Hey what type of glue do you use, just super glue?

OMG she's gonna lose it, how awesome!!

Uuuugggghhhh I HATE being sweaty!! I totally feel you on that one. I sometimes set up a fan to be pointing where I get out of shower and get changed, so I don't have to deal with that feeling of pulling dry clothes over damp skin.

Oh noooooo 🫣 What are you gonna do? Can you take the doubled set back and get a different one? If you don't have a backup santa gift, maybe santa could deliver the tickets to legoland? 😅

Re: My Mosaic

Oh sanding and painting @Jynx ! That sanding is hard work! I have some pieces I do and I have to cut with the jigsaw, sand, paint and then sand again… sweaty hard work!

and yes I just use super glue.

yep that’s what I hate too. I try to explain to D that she doesn’t need the heat light on during summer for that very reason, but she still insists on having it on. I end up having to go stand in front of the fan to cool down again.
And I’ll admit I have crawled back into bed without having a shower. I’ll aim for tomorrow. 🫣

I have put through a click and collect for Kmart with another Lego set, one that she told me she wanted a couple of days ago. That’s the thing with doing laybys early in the year and forgetting what ones you got! I told her she couldn’t have a certain set all year… and it was the wrong one anyways!
santa only ever brings her one gift. Everything else is from me, don’t want him getting all the glory- something I read many many years ago by a single mum, who worked hard and saved hard to give her kids a wonderful Christmas. She wanted her kids to know how hard to worked. Made sense to me… so that’s what I’ve done. Santa still comes and it’s always a gift that she has asked him for.

Re: My Mosaic

@Bow neat, I'll add it to my list!! Was thinking of just using the Gorilla Glue I scrounged up but I think it's one that like, expands heaps as it dries. That would ruin it!!

Haha if your D had to foot the electric bill I'm sure she'd have different habits 🤣

Yep there's always tomorrow hey!! I sometimes do like, a little baby-wipe bath if I am feeling a bit stinky, but don't have the energy for a shower. Does that work for you? Or is it more the battle with shame that gets ya?

I think that's really smart!! I do really hate the fact that little kids who don't know any better might internalise it as being unworthy if they see their (richer or more privileged) friends get lots of big gifts from Santa when they only got something small. That's some community-minded thinking!

In case I run outta time, I should say nighty night!! Hope the Shelfy Elfy plays nice tonight hahaha. Catch you tomorrow hun 💜

Re: My Mosaic

I got some gorilla glue @Jynx but I’ve never actually used it. I just stick with super glue. Got a little box full of the little tubes of super glue. When I have a busy day of making I can go through so many of them!

I do use baby wipes! I actually use them a lot for so many things! But yes they can certainly help freshen things up. I really do need to get in the shower some point today though- I’m out earlish tomorrow so I need to be clean/

Yeah I actually often see social media posts from people pleading parents to not make Santa the one that gives flashy expensive gifts for that very reason, cause you’ll have some kids getting heaps and others getting not much from Santa and how do you explain that?

Elf has had some packages delivered overnight so has to get wrapping! D has left a note asking if she can keep the packages! lol today I built this Lego person that elf fits inside and just has her head sticking out. That will be tonight I think.

how has your day been? Did you glue down the jawbones? I think I’m gonna go do some cleaning! Sucky part of our house sitters staying in my room…. I need to give it a good clean!

Re: My Mosaic

Out of bed is a positive @Bow

Glad you had a good chat with your SW. Hopefully you are feeling a bit more comfortable with them.

Day is ok. Got a few things ticked of my list this morning.

@Bow woahh the disney and lego hotels sounds amazing!! do you get to pick which themed hotel to stay at in legoland? or do they randomly assign you when you get there? 24/7 access to legos is so cool, wonder if they let you keep/take freebies from there.

i don't have a proper picture of my nails (my camera quality is horrid) but this is the nail inspo i gave the nail tech - she gave me a pink version of these (and instead of the cross i just got star gem)
