Something’s not right

My special place

Re: My special place

Is D at schoolies? It’s raining up here so they’re all wet and miserable @Snowie

I’m sorry about your Mum being like she is. I ran into a friend at the airport yesterday and we were discussing our mothers. My friend’s mum has always been nasty but since she’s been in care her dr started her on a small dose of anti depressants and for the first time in my friend’s life she says her mum is nice! Maybe that’s what your mum needs…just a thought.

My mum doesn’t say much anymore…she didn’t even comment on my weight which was a relief!

Re: My special place

She has always been like this so I guess I can't expect her to change @Jynx I think just she uses me as a punching bag, especially since my Dad passed away. I just have to do the best in a hard situation. Her dementia is getting worse too, which doesn't make things easier.

Haven't got anything on this afternoon. Already cooked tea so just have to warm it up.

Have you got anything planned for tomorrow?

Re: My special place

D is in Bali with some friends for schoolies @Eve7 She is messaging me all of these beautiful beaches and I'm stuck in the rain!!

I've suggested to my mum to go see her gp or go see a psych. Always met with hostility. She doesn't believe in psychs and has said they don't help anyway. When I was younger she went and saw a psych once and said that didn't help. Didn't understand that one session isn't going to solve everything.

I'm glad you mum didn't comment, it is not an appropriate thing to comment on anyway.

My mum always commented on my weight growing up. I used to have to sneak food into my room at night because she would always monitor how much I ate. No wonder why I have a lot of problems with my weight now and have trouble eating infront of other people. She even said to me awhile ago that D has put on weight. Who says that about their grand daughter.

Sorry just ranting now.

How has your day been?

Re: My special place

Mm it's tough @Snowie especially with dementia in the mix. Would make the notion of her deciding to make changes really far away. Aww sending you some hugs darlin!

Yeah nice, I got a stir fry waiting for me 😋 Tomorrow will just be chilling till I'm back around the forums! Might go for a walk, maybe some crafts. See what mood strikes me hehe. You?

Re: My special place

She lives with me and my family too @Jynx so can't even get time away from her. I have got her booked in at a memory clinic so hoping I can get some help from that.

Stir fry is always a good meal. Do you do much cooking?

I have my psych tomorrow morning and then haven't got anything else planned. If it's not raining will try and go for a walk with the dog. She is always up for it!

I ordered a felt craft xmas stocking from amazon the other day, so hoping that turns up soon.

Re: My special place

@Snowie oh for sure, fingers crossed ay. Do you get respite from any carer's organisations? Could be worth looking into.

I cook maybe once a week? A big pot or meal that I can then have leftovers for the rest of the week. I do love to cook, it can be a super mindful activity, and the results are quite rewarding hehe.

Oh cool! Does it have all the little bits for you to decorate it with? Love a new crafty project!

Re: My special place

I don't get any respite @Jynx It is something that we are looking into for her. I have had someone come out and assess her but of course everything takes a long time. Seems like waiting list after waiting list.

Thats a good way to cook. I normally cook most nights and like trying new recipes. Lucky for me my hubby and kids will try anything.

It does have little things to decorate. I have made things before from this company. I was thinking of doing xmas stockings for my neighbours kids. They have 1 and 3 year old.

These are two I made probably 3 years ago.

Re: My special place

Waiting lists are indeed an ongoing headache for us all hey @Snowie. I hope something shifts for you soon hun 🤞💜

Yeah nice, glad your family is easy to cater for! Living alone makes it much easier methinks. Growing up, Mum was cooking every night. And the poor thing had to deal with my Dad's low fodmap (which we didn't know at the time), my sister's alleries, and my fussy eating (which, in hindsight, was just my undiagnosed neurodivergent behaviours). So I have a lot of respect for how creative she had to get!

Aww they're really cute! And incredibly festive! Well done 😊 I'm sure your neighbours would be so stoked too, how wonderfully kind of you 😍

Re: My special place

Rant away @Snowie and do it whenever you need.

It’s good you can trust your D to go to Bali with her friends. I’m glad she’s enjoying herself. I went to Bali with my friends about 4 years ago and we had a blast. That was before my mh took a nosedive.

My mum always commented on my weight growing up as I was way too thin and now I’ve put on weight she usually comment”s on that but not this weekend.

Re: My special place

My daughter is fodmap too @Jynx It is hard but there are so many awesome recipes on the internet that I use. There is also a cook book I have for fodmap meals.

I like trying to keep my hands busy. It makes things just a little easier and of course it helps if I can concentrate on something other than my mental health.
