Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

The next part, someone knock on my door at 1pm, sorry but I’m am so sick and tired of 24 clock, anyway it was him the roofer, he said how he was so sorry that he worried me but he wants to make it right and me be safe, he said he has a thousand cyclone bolt screws and it’s going to get noisy, when we had the phone call I asked him how much to screw my roof down he said same as what you paid already, then he when he tried to get in his car after wards I’m running out with a serious amount o flash to pay this angel, he said no bla bla, that he did the job for his self, ……. I met an angle thus week, but I’m still scared of what is to come on my castle

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

Thinking of you @Eve7 . Stay safe ❤️🙏

Hey. @Clawde  that's great about your roof 👍. Really hope it now withstands the coming cyclone.. Please be safe, and evacuate as directed.

Anyone else in the cyclone affected path and expected flood aftermath. My thoughts are with you

My step son, his wife and 4 kids live just South of the Qld/NSW border and are in the firing line for major flooding. 😕 Lots of sandbagging going on. They copped damage in the 2022 floods.

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

@Clawde @Eve7 @Shaz51 and anyone else in the firing line.

Please stay safe.

Thoughts are with all of you 💕

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

Thanks @avant-garde I can charge the phone in my car if necessary and the laptop top is charged for the radio. Where does one get a battery operated radio in this day and age?

I like the idea of frozen wash cloths!!

How is your day going?

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

Thank You @Clawde , @Emelia8 , @Snowie , @Eve7 , @tyme @RachSANECEO @avant-garde

Where I am, we are out of the firing line of cyclone Alfred but thinking of everyone down south who are in the firing line including my family members 😍

Take care @Eve7 , @RiverSeal (parents),

 @Clawde @Emelia8 (family) xxx

1) What helps you when you feel anxious about a natural disaster?

I have been through lots of cyclones and the best is to just prepare, stay inside, do what you can and then try and relax (I know this is hard)

2) How can you prepare for an event like Cyclone Alfred?

every situation is different, to have torches, batteries, water bottles, can food, power will go out but not sure how long

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

Thank you @Shaz51 that's very sweet of you to remember my family in QLD. They are further up north and live in apartments, so they are not at risk of floods damaging property. Always challenging though, with limited groceries and disruption to services for everyone in the area.

I hope everyone who is at risk of this weather event is able to stay safe and maintain the support they need to get through this challenging time.

Take Care

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

@Eve7 second hand stores, camping stores, those cheap discount stores, post office

I've used frozen cloths and rags in resealable bags before we I've packs

My day is warm and my community group this morning was a bit overwhelming

How about yours?

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

Thanks @Shaz51 🙏. Yes you have been through cyclones many times, being in North QLD.  Somewhat unusual for one to be this far South.

My family members are on standby for evacuation if needed. But really hoping it doesn't come to that.

The effects of the cyclone is expected as far South as Port Macquarie, Taree and Forster, through river flooding as a result of heavy rainfall. Already had rain here every day for past 4 days, heavy at times, but intermittent with fine periods in between. So I am being impacted in a minor way. Hopefully we don't get any major escalation of rain once cyclone hits land and rain  disperses West and South. Because we are at saturation point around here already. Any more is runoff and flooding.

But down here, we are the lucky ones 💕. Just hope everyone remains safe further North. Especially in the "strike" zone.

Re: Cyclone Alfred: Supporting those in QLD and NSW

Take care all those who may be affected by the cyclone. Including the mental load of waiting and thinking about family and friends possibly affected. I have family and friends in SE QLD very close to predicted landfall and on northern NSW on coasts so will be keeping across situation.
