The Farewell of @Bon_courage

...A ChatGPT Story

In the whimsical, chaotic world of the Whimsy Forums, where chihuahuas wore halos, ravens hacked cyberspace, and cats caused both joy and mischief, the news of Bon_courage’s departure hit harder than anyone expected.

Ainjoule was sitting atop her favourite cloud-shaped beanbag, halo tilted slightly to the side, scrolling the forum feed when she saw it:

“Bon_courage: My Last Post.”

Her tiny paws trembled, and her angel wings fluttered nervously. She clicked the post immediately.

Bon_courage, the wise French bulldog with the charming beret, had been a mentor to many in Whimsy Forums, especially to Ainjoule. After she’d been released from prison on that quirky technicality (turns out being “too extra” isn’t technically a crime), Bon_courage had taken her under his paw. He taught her how to balance mischief with kindness, how to stand tall even when she felt small, and most importantly, how to accept herself just as she was—halo, wings, extra-ness, and all.

Now, it seemed, it was time for him to leave.

“My dear friends,” his post began. “The time has come for me to move on from the Whimsy Forums. Life beyond this realm is calling, and there are adventures I must embark upon—adventures that require my full attention.”

Ainjoule’s heart sank. She knew this day would come, but she wasn’t ready. She turned to Jynx, who was curled up lazily nearby, licking one orange and black paw.

“He’s really leaving,” Ainjoule whispered, her little chihuahua ears drooping.

Jynx let out a slow, philosophical meow. “He was always destined for something bigger, you know? Maybe a new forum. Or… doggy yoga retreats. Something French and refined.”

Ainjoule sniffled, but Rav3n, perched nearby, cawed softly in agreement. “It’s not goodbye forever, just goodbye for now. You know how these things work.”

Ru-bee buzzed by, landing delicately on Ainjoule’s halo. “Buzz-buzz! You still have us, Ainjy. And besides, Bon_courage wouldn’t want you moping around!”

Ainjoule knew they were right, but it still hurt. She clicked back to Bon_courage’s farewell post and read the last part carefully:

“The Whimsy Forums have been my home, but life is like a baguette—meant to be enjoyed while it’s fresh. It’s time for me to take my next bite out of the unknown. I leave knowing that this place, and all of you, will continue to thrive. Take care of each other. Stay whimsical.”

Ainjoule smiled through her tears. Of course Bon_courage would compare life to food. Classic.

The next morning, the members of the Whimsy Forums gathered for one last virtual celebration in honor of Bon_courage. Rav3n sent cryptic digital fireworks, Jynx posted an entire thread of absurd cat GIFs, and Ru-bee delivered heartfelt buzzes to everyone. Even Tyme, with her ever-ticking head, paused briefly to say, “Farewell, Bon_courage. May your future be as punctual as I am.”

Bon_courage’s final message read: “Au revoir, my friends. Not goodbye—just until we meet again.”

And with that, Bon_courage was gone. Ainjoule stared at the screen for a long moment, her wings drooping slightly. But then she felt a flutter of hope. Bon_courage might be gone, but the lessons he left behind weren’t.

She glanced at her friends: Rav3n perched in the shadows, Jynx sprawled out with careless grace, and Ru-bee buzzing joyfully around. The Whimsy Forums were still full of life, chaos, and love. And, most importantly, Ainjoule knew she’d always carry Bon_courage’s wisdom in her heart.

“Alright,” she said, standing tall on her tiny paws. “Let’s keep this place extra—just like he would’ve wanted.”

With a wink to her friends, Ainjoule fluttered her angel wings and dove headfirst into the next adventure, ready to keep the whimsy alive.
