It is essential to open up about our mental health issues, as it is high time that we prioritize our wellness before the opinions of others. Opening up about mental health issues is essential because it helps reduce stigma and encourages others to seek support without fear of judgment. Sharing struggles allows individuals to receive emotional support, professional help, and practical advice to improve their well-being. Bottling up emotions can lead to increased stress, anxiety, or depression, making the situation worse over time. Speaking openly fosters a sense of connection, reminding people they are not alone in their struggles. It also raises awareness and promotes mental health education and understanding in communities. Ultimately, open conversations lead to healthier relationships and a more supportive society.

Thank you for sharing this @heera72.
I'm one to bottle everything up for fear of putting someone else out or making others feel uncomfortable about sharing my story. Recently I've been dealt some bad health issues and it's lead to my mental health deteriorating rapidly. Having no support around me I turned to the forums to try and feel less alone and to make some connections.
I'm still learning how it works and finding the strength to share my story.

Trouble is, the other side have to be open to having open conversations.
That's always been the insurmountable stumbling block, I've found.

I agree. Being open about what you’re going through helps others understand and I think it also helps us.

Totally agree @Darren1707 @Hopeandlove . I think it gives people opportunity to ask clarifying questions if they have any rather than for us to get into the habit of assuming things.
I should also say, @Darren1707 , Welcome to the forums. Great to have you with us 🙂

I've had mixed results, but I still believe it's best to inform your supervisor or at least someone you trust at work.
SBS (Channel 30) has been airing the American version of Employable Me. The show typically features individuals with autism spectrum disorder and Tourette's syndrome as they navigate the challenges of finding a job. By openly discussing their conditions, they help potential employers understand the value of diverse perspectives in the workplace. This also helps reduce anxiety and fosters acceptance of people who think and work differently.
I'm not sure if anyone watched the Australian version of this show, but it was fantastic. However, we still have a long way to go in ending the stigma surrounding mental health and neurodiversity.
