The part about being a woman that I absolutely hate. I was abused at a young age, and then numerous other times through my teens and early 20s. I grew up being convinced that I would eventually be riddled with disease and cancer in these areas as a result. I was 24 when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. My fears became a reality.
I still find it all disgusting.

@avant-garde @Snowie Exactly the post I needed to see right now. I had to go back for my cervical screening twice. Now I have a biopsy tomorrow and a pelvic ultrasound next week. I have spent the past few weeks completely dissociated because that is my default response. But I finally managed to reach out to my psychologist about it, which I have never done.
It is helpful to see that I am not alone in this feeling of being triggered. I know why it happens for me but my skills aren't always helpful, especially when multiple appointments happen close together.

@Bow Feeling disgusted is such a normal reaction. I'm currently dealing with this now.
And the cold reality that no one was there for me and no one stopped what was happening.
I'm a long way off from the radical acceptance part mentioned in DBT. It's a journey.

@balance37 thank you for helping validate the creation of this thread... I'd been thinking about it for a while and had been quite apprehensive about it...

the spreadsheet it prepped, I'm going to link all the parties listed to their websites, i expect the federal election to be called this or next week and I want to get ahead of it and their policies.
@PeppyPatti inspired this thread, when I wanted to talk about periods and it felt awkward but she said we should talk about it more, so I'm glad, and lets be honest, I'm not the only one who needed it today

Well done for making it through. The doctor sounds like she was very caring. So glad you got her.
