Women's health (TW)

Re: Women's health (TW)

@avant-garde damn straight we do. So glad my son is completely opposite.

Re: Women's health (TW)

About 7 years ago, I went to visit my brother in Monterey, California, and I was standing in line at the Hallmark greeting card store. It was cold !! Two young man, early 20s - 20s late and they started

discussing a mutual friend who was having problems with cysts in her overlies. I almost leapt high up in the air - they were interested in HER. I was both extremely surprised and I had to get my card and leave -

Before they thought I was a gaping ape listening in to their conversation.

@avant-garde  things change slowly - give it time.

All that has changed hugely since the last few centuries.

Things like that change slowly.

Does this feel right to you ? Do you agree ? Or not ?

Re: Women's health (TW)

@PeppyPatti

I do feel like it changes slowly, but I *personally* think in religious/Christian circles they tend to drag their feet.

Let's take for example the LGBTQ+ train. It is going down the track just chugging along... the Christians are the ones with chains to the back of the train trying to pull it back...

Now I'm not trying to discriminate, I'm just trying to say that we tend to take a while to give up trying to stop the train and just jump on it.

I do profess as Christian, but people don't realise quite how progressive my thinking is...

I say this because this particular friend is Christian too

Re: Women's health (TW)

Hey @avant-garde

I think your progressive too.

In my eyes, what I see is that you have a battle underneath another battle because Politicians use LGBTQ people / persons to make votes for them as well.

It's tough ; at your age you are supposed to be having fun, going out and being passionate -

in safety. Meeting others in safety.

Like how I hung out in the 80s, when I wrote about going on nightly marches for domestic violence.

I like that you sound sure in your ( Christian ) beliefs. I like how you write about your artwork.

Re: Women's health (TW)

Yes @avant-garde things have definitely changed with regard to women in society, but it’s very slow.

Also can depend where you live, often the further you are away from a city the more behind understanding of women’s issues is, this is especially so if the average age of population is older. Religious beliefs also affect how progressive people’s views are in general.

Unfortunately with Trump as US president, women will need to fight harder for an equal seat at the table.

But keep up the good fight

Re: Women's health (TW)

Dear Forums Family,

This month is Endometriosis Awareness Month (March)

Endometriosis is a painful disease that affects 1 in 7 women in Australia.

MarchIntoYellow is a campaign to raise awareness of Endometriosis and to support education and research. Read more about it here: https://endometriosisaustralia.org/

We look forward to hearing from the community:

1) Are you, or someone you love, affected by endometriosis?

2) What are some of your (or you loved one's) experiences?

3) Do you have any tips to give the community?

@avant-garde @Till23 @PeppyPatti @Glisten @Ru-bee @Shaz51 @Oaktree @Captain24 @Former-Member @Snowie @outlander @Eve7 and anyone else.

Re: Women's health (TW)

I felt like I have tried everything but this was a life changer for me. The most pain relief I get and very easy and hygienic.

Re: Women's health (TW)

Hey y'all -

@avant-garde @Till23 @PeppyPatti @Glisten @Ru-bee @Shaz51 @Oaktree @Captain24 @Judymay @Snowie @outlander @Eve7

It's taken me years to emotionally work this out. My sister in law has endometriosis.

For years - iv seen my oldest brother cut me out of their little life - care and revel in taking my oldest son and hearing him complain about me when he was a teenager -

I'm quiet when they cut me out of their lives - yet I grieve and take my grief out here.

Then I heard she  gets endometriosis. As I know her - something is festering in my brain. It me giving space in me that she has used this terrible condition at keeping my brother away from me. It's her telling me she's more intelligent than my brother ( deeeer ) and  keeping me away from her.

Wow .....  She hates feeling vulnerable

Re: Women's health (TW)

Yes @tyme a very important issue.

It’s interesting the things that get publicity and funding.

For example 1 in 7 females will get breast cancer in their lifetime - huge amount of publicity, lots of money thrown at it - which has been great because survival is much higher than in the past, is talked about easily.

1 in 7 females will have endometriosis- only now getting some traction, for publicity, funding and research, not really talked about.

1 in 4 (or possibly 1 in 3) females will be sexually assaulted before age 18. Very little publicity, funding, research etc. Pretty much never talked about.

I am fortunate not to have been affected by endometriosis (but have been by other two things mentioned above).

Women’s health is not well funded, researched or talked about, despite being just over half of population, So this is a great campaign.

Can’t add any specific advice, except don’t suffer in silence.

Re: Women's health (TW)

unfortunate i am one that has endometriosis @tyme and all
